NHTSA Complaint #11573675 — 2020 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The Low Engine Oil message was displayed. The contact pulled over at a gas station and turned off the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the engine oil level was low and added more engine oil. The contact restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle was shaking. The contact parked the vehicle and had it towed to her brother's residence. The vehicle was later towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine oil pump needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic advised the contact not to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
