NHTSA Complaint #11567317 — 2020 FORD ECOSPORT

The contact owns a 2020 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the engine, and the oil pressure warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed, where belt fragments and metal shavings were found in the oil pan. The contact was advised by the local dealer that the long block, turbocharger, and lubricating system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,000.
