NHTSA Complaint #11563688 — 2009 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse in a parking lot, the vehicle lost power steering inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact then wiggled the steering wheel back and forth, and the steering wheel responded as needed. The contact stated that she drove to an independent mechanic; however, the mechanic’s shop was closed. The contact then drove to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering). The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,979.
