Consumer Description
We bought this trailer brand new in 2016. A few months later the gate opened at one side because it had not been centered when the trailer was manufactured and the latch pin didn’t go far enough into the receiver. The manufacturer paid to have this defect corrected. A few weeks ago the pin opened once again due to a faulty welding spot at the bracket. The bracket is welded onto the frame at 2 spots, the rear welding spot detached from the frame, allowing the pin to move towards the rear so that the gate opens at one side. Eventually the gate could completely open when it is held by only one pin at the other side and the cargo presses against it. If the gate opens on the freeway and cargo flies into a following vehicle, people could die. The company received pictures and argued that the owner can’t expect the welding spots to last beyond the one year warranty. We feel that these trailers are not safe anymore after a few years.
