NHTSA Complaint #11555034 — 2015 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated with a message to “Pull Over and Turn Off Vehicle” displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and it was determined that there was fluid leaking into cylinder #1 and that the cylinder and head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the head gasket and short block were previously replaced due to fluid leaking into cylinder #3; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
