NHTSA Complaint #11546682 — 2013 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle lost significant motive power and struggled to attain speeds of over 30 MPH. The contact also stated that there was an excessive amount of smoke coming from the exhaust that contained the odor of oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the Eco-Boost system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 183,000.
