NHTSA Complaint #11543211 — 2017 RAM 1500

The contact's son owns a 2017 Ram 1500. The contact stated while her son was driving 55 MPH, a message advising to stop driving because the vehicle would shut down was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact' son was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that she would be notified once the parts became available. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
