NHTSA Complaint #11538499 — 2016 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 75 MPH, he attempted to slow down for traffic and felt as if the brake was not responding as needed. The contact stated that an unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the passenger’s side front brake line had split along the length and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact was advised by the mechanic that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.
