NHTSA Complaint #11534598 — 2017 JAGUAR F-PACE

The impeller fan on the turbo was improperly balanced and caused shrapnel to travel downstream through the turbo, engine, diesel particulate filter and the exhaust system. When this happened the vehicle immediately shut down and was unable to drive. Had this happened on a highway or busy road, an accident would have been called. When the vehicle was towed to the dealership, the technician informed us that there was another model in their shop with the exact issue being repaired. The vehicle had been properly maintained with the manufacturer's service at required intervals. There was no indication that there were any issues related to this incident before it occurred.
