NHTSA Complaint #11529223 — 2015 RAM 1500

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power; however, the contact was able to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined there was a failure with the crank position sensor related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 178,000.
