NHTSA Complaint #11528982 — 2015 RAM 1500

The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that he then noticed a cloud of blue smoke at the rear of the vehicle coming from the exhaust. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the camshaft failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. The VIN was unavailable.
