Consumer Description
Sunroof exploded while driving within 24 hours of buying a new vehicle. Nothing fell on the car. We were driving in the highway and we heard an explosion, when we got out of the car to look, we saw that the sunroof exploded. I did not even know that was a thing prior to that, when I started searching after that and talking to my colleagues, seems like it was more common than I expected and is not limited to a single manufacturer. Although we were safe, glass would have fallen on us and we might have gotten into an accident because of distraction, especially when driving in highway. If this is going to be an ongoing issue, why are manufacturers being allowed to make cars with sunroof / moonroof and why are not customers informed of that while purchasing the vehicle?
