The contact stated that while merging at an undisclosed speed, he attempted to slow the vehicle by applying the brake pedal, which failed to slow the vehicle rapidly enough to avoid a collision. As a result, the contact collided with the vehicle in front of him. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were displayed on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified, but a case was not opened; the contact stated that he informed the manufacturer of intermittent brake failure as he had experienced similar events on undisclosed dates.
