NHTSA Complaint #11524854 — 2007 SUZUKI XL7

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki XL7. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer after she discovered that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V597000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that after the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer and the recall was presumably completed, the vehicle was driven to the residence and parked. The contact then stated on the same day while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal fuel odor throughout the cabin of the vehicle before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The contact then notified the dealer of the failure, but the contact was denied service. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the crank shaft position sensor was faulty. The contact stated that she previously had the vehicle diagnosed by a different independent mechanic and was informed that the engine was not getting fuel when the vehicle was started. The contact was informed that the fuel pump module assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall was completed, and further repairs would be at the expense of the owner. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.
