The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH and attempting to make a left turn, the power steering failed to operate as needed. The contact stated that extra effort was needed to turn the steering wheel. The contact stated that the power steering assist and tire pressure warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent, but over time became a recurring failure. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering functionality returned; however, the process worked infrequently. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
