NHTSA Complaint #11518724 — 2014 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after a jumpstart and stated that she was unable to shift into reverse(R). No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module (TCM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery and the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking and while coming to a stop at a stop signal, the vehicle was stalling. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
