Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2004 Jaguar XJ8. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal made an abnormal rattling sound and went down to the floorboard. The vehicle hesitated to respond. The ABS warning light and the traction control warning light were illuminated. Additionally, the message "Park Brake Fault" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brakes had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V144000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The local dealer and a secondary dealer, Land Rover Princeton (958 US-206, Princeton, NJ 08540), were contacted. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
