NHTSA Complaint #11515142 — 2015 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear back up camera failed to operate as needed with a blank on the display screen. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was then notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V406000 (Electrical System); however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
