Consumer Description

THIS IS EXTRACTED FROM A LETTER THAT I SENT TO FORD ON 24 JANUARY 2022. They never responded. I was horrified and shocked to see multiple (16 parts weighing in at about 6 pounds) components missing from the mounting hardware on the rear sway bar suspension. From my layman’s understanding the front and REAR sway bars are a SAFETY CRITICAL component for the safe handling of such a large vehicle. We were told by a Ford Dealer in NC that his service technician often sees some or all of these sway bar components loose or missing when performing RV service. My question to the Ford Dealer in NC was “then why didn’t the Service Technician put a wrench on the sway bar bolts which had to be loose for the sixteen parts, to go missing in 3000 miles?” I did not receive an answer! I do not believe that the Service Tech was being disingenuous. My question to Ford was was: If this is a recurring problem why hasn’t Ford ordered a safety recall to check on the security of rear sway bar bolts? And, if this a recurring problem why doesn’t Ford use elastic stop nuts and/or thread lock to prevent this egregious safety flaw from occurring? I was able to get the necessary parts and affect the repairs myself. In December 2022, Ford ordered a safety recall but does not yet have the necessary parts to fix their error.
