NHTSA Complaint #11507051 — 2015 FORD FUSION

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact pulled over on the side of the roadway and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle failed to accelerate above 30 MPH, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into cylinder #2, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to Fred Beans Ford (876 N Easton Rd, Doylestown, PA 18902) where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the cylinders, and the engine needed to be replaced; however, the replacement part was on backorder. The dealer related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 19-2139 (1.5L Eco-boost - Low Coolant, White Exhaust Smoke and/or Illuminated Mil - Built On Or Before 10-Jun-2019) however, the vehicle was not covered under the TSB. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000.
