Consumer Description
Automatic transfer relay over heated creating a fire hazard. It's location under the bed prevents seeing the fire until it is burning. The switch is available for viewing. The rv carries 50 gallons of gasoline and 50 lbs propane a fire could cause collateral damage. This specific problem has not been inspected by a dealer or others. There was no danger warning. This is not an isolated incident on rv group websites there are many reports of this happening. No one to my knowledge has determined the cause of the malfunction that causes the fire risk they seem to just replace it with another relay. The way I found out about the malfunction was when there was no shore power to the unit, i checked circuit breakers all were good so I disconnected the shore power and tried the generator. Luckily that also failed to power up the rv. After researching the issue on the internet I checked the transfer relay and saw the burnt wires and relay. I felt very luck there was not a fire. I feel very stupid for starting the generator with relay in this condition.
