NHTSA Complaint #11483282 — 2011 FORD F-150

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle downshifted from 6th gear to 3rd gear. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated upon turning off and restarting the vehicle several times, the transmission shifted back to 1st gear. However, the speedometer and fuel gauge failed to work as needed while driving. The contact stated that an unknown software update was previously completed on the vehicle under an unknown recall associated with the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
