NHTSA Complaint #11470266 — 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V165000 (Visibility) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH in the rain, the driver’s side windshield wiper became inoperable. The contact veered to the side of the road and waited for the rain to stop. The contact wiped the windshield with a rag and drove to his residence. Upon inspecting the windshield, the contact noticed that the windshield wiper ball joint had separated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that he had to pay out-of-pocket for a temporary repair fee because parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
