Consumer Description

On Sunday June 5, 2022, I had to remove my 2019 Porsche Macan S right rear tire because it had a screw in it. I ahd to do it that day because its leaking had increased and it went totally flat, while I had been waiting many days for my purchased tire and road hazard service. I removed the tire and put in a temporary plug so it could be taken to the servicing dealer, Porsche Silver Spring, MD, on Tuesday June 7, 2022. While I was doing this work, the right rear jack lift point on the car failed and moved sideways towards the inboard of the car, allowing the jack to move under the car. Fortunately I was able to get the tire back on, but the car fell onto the jack and was damaged. The trim pieces and right rear door were damaged. I have pictures of the damage and the failed jack point. I was using the Porsche supplied jack and at all times followed all Porsche directions from the Porsche supplied “Good To Know” app, to the letter. On June 8, 2020 the dealership contacted me and confirmed that the jack point had failed and required replacement. They are also obtained an estimate of the cost to repair the damage to my vehicle caused by the jack point failure. I was very lucky not to have been injured. I believe this is a serious safety problem. I will provide more information upon request, including pictures. I was unable to load the pictures from my cell phone on this report.
