The vehicle had been engulfed in flames and the fire department had been called and extinguished the fire using water. The contact stated that a fire report was issued. The contact's insurance company declared the vehicle a complete loss. The contact related the failure to an open recall on his vehicle NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V017000 (Vehicle Speed Control). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.
