NHTSA Complaint #11464286 — 2018 FORD MUSTANG

This issue is when a haze develops on the inside of the windshield in the line of sight of the forward facing camera that detects vehicles, objects, traffic lanes and rain sensing. Since this area of the windshield is enclosed, there is no way to clean it. This is not condensation but dust particles that adhere to the glass, possibly from AC or heat that flows along the windshield and also it possibly enhanced in humid climates. When the issue occurs, the dash warning will appear stating, "Front Camera Low Visibility Clean Screen" and the outside windshield is definitely not dirty. I've taken this to my local Ford dealership and they claim they have no way to address the problem and suggested I take it to a windshield replacement shop, such as SafeLite, they also said it is not covered under any Ford warranty. I find this odd, since it is a potential design defect with the vehicle. This is a random occurrence and because of the warning, I fear it diminishes the accuracy of everything the front sensor detects and could be potentially dangerous. I've found several postings in vehicle forums online with the same issue but nothing about Ford or anyone resolving it, so this is not an isolated issue.
