NHTSA Complaint #11463214 — 2010 FORD ESCAPE

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle started to veer to the right independently. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as the torque sensor. The mechanic stated that the torque sensor needed to be replaced and the ECM needed to be recalibrated. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The contact researched the cause of the failure and determined that the failure was related to the torque sensor and referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V284000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
