Consumer Description
The contact owns a 2006 Featherlite Trailer equipped with a propane tank holder. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, she heard abnormal loud sounds coming from the rear of the trailer. The contact veered to the side of the road. Upon inspecting the cause of the failure, the contact noticed that the propane tank had separated from the propane tank holder and the propane tank holder was fractured. The contact stated that the propane tank had fallen onto the ground underneath the trailer but did not cause the trailer to explode as it was empty and securely closed. The contact went underneath the trailer and removed the propane tank. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the trailer was significantly old. The RV was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000. The VIN was invalid. This cylinder was in good shape when the strap broke and we stopped immediately. No damage was done. Strap had no back up or secondary system if it broke. It was completely hidden from view so that no one knew that it was rusted.
