Consumer Description
On or about 8/12/2021 on the way home from Coos Bay, OR, I was making a right turn on a clover leaf to enter a freeway. There was a loud grinding noise, vibrations I could feel through the steering wheel, and the RV started fighting my steering inputs. I was unable to control either the speed or direction of the vehicle. It appeared the vehicle was going to leave the roadway. I did not notice any warning lights at the time. I was a preoccupied. According to Ford technicians a "Yaw" sensor detects an amount of sway beyond a set limit and initiated actions through the antilock braking system to maintain control of the vehicle. The Ford technicians were able to duplicate the problem. It occurred in both directions with no apparent physical indications of excess sway or lean while turning the vehicle. The vehicle was not over weight nor were excessive speeds involved in the original incident or during troubleshooting by Ford technicians. According the the information obtained from the Ford technicians the center of gravity for the vehicle is too high. (see attached Ford_Linclon_Fairfield 2.jpg) We upgraded the sway bars to make our vehicle safe to drive. The original front and read sway bars were 7/8 and 1-1/8 inches respectively.
