NHTSA Complaint #11452219 — 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal while driving at slow speeds, the vacuum pump failed to operate as designed causing the brake pedal to either harden or depress to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that excessive effort was needed to stop the vehicle. The contact had to depress the brake pedal with both feet to stop the vehicle. The contact discovered that his vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact took the vehicle to be serviced under the recall; however, upon return of the vehicle, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.
