NHTSA Complaint #11421243 — 2015 GMC CANYON

The contact owns a 2015 GMC Canyon. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the steering wheel ceased. The contact stated that the traction control warning light and two unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact parked on the side of the roadway, turned off and restarted the vehicle and drove to his destination without failure. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated while driving away from the dealer, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
