Consumer Description

I OWN A 2014 KIA SOUL PLUS WITH THE 2.0L ENGINE WITH APPROX 95,XXX MILES. ONE MORNING THE ENGINE STARTING MAKING A LOUD CLATTER (SOUNDING LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE) AND HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD NEAR MY HOME. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND RETURN HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I LATER TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THEY DETERMINED THE ENGINE HAD SPUN A ROD BEARING CAUSING INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS OR ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE LEADING UP TO THIS FAILURE. THROUGH RESEARCH I LATER DISCOVERED THE MANY ISSUES KIA HAS HAD WITH THIS ENGINE RELATED TO SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURES. *TR
