Consumer Description

DRIVER DOOR LATCH, WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL 15S16 IN FEB 2016 AT 57K MILES, FAILED TO LATCH IN OCT 2019 AT 108K MILES. DEALER VERIFIED THAT THE BROKEN LATCH THEY REMOVED WAS ONE OF THE UPGRADED PARTS. DOOR LATCH WORKED FINE THE NIGHT BEFORE BUT FAILED IN THE MORNING WHEN I WENT TO CLOSE MY DOOR AND THE DOOR BOUNCED OPEN AGAIN. CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION OR EVEN STARTED YET WHEN THE REPLACEMENT LATCH FAILED. CAR IS GARAGED, NO ADVERSE WEATHER THAT DAY OR THE PREVIOUS NIGHT. THE REPLACEMENT PART LASTED LESS TIME THAN THE ORIGINAL WORKING LATCH THAT WAS REPLACED AS A PREVENTATIVE MEASURE UNDER RECALL.*DT
