Consumer Description

AN ARTICLE IN TRAILER LIFE (MAY, 2019) IDENTIFIED THAT THE BOSCH CP4.2 HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL-INJECTION PUMP IS SUBJECT TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. IT POINTS OUT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE, A DESIGN ISSUE AND WILL COST MANY $1000'S TO REPAIR. IT HAS BEEN CALLED A "FATAL FLAW". IT SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A UNIT THAT IS RELIABLE BY THE MANUFACTURER IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. MICHIGAN S&S MOTORSPORT STATES THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IS COMMON TO 2011 TO 2016 DURAMAX DIESEL SILVERADOS USING THE BOSCH CP4.2 FUEL-INJECTION PUMP.
