Consumer Description

THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED ON THE TRUCK AT 60,000 MILES. THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING ON THE TRUCK. IT WAS DETERMINED THE CONTROL MODULE FAILED BUT WAS NOT REPLACEABLE BY ITSELF SINCE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK UNIT IS SEALED SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SEEN IN OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THIS TRUCK AND RAM ACTUALLY ISSUED A RECALL ON ONLY 440 2016 MODELS UNDER RECALL S19 AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN 16V167000. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND CAN OBVIOUSLY BE VERY DANGEROUS LOSING POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. RAM REFUSED TO REIMBURSE OR PAY FOR ANY PART OF THE NEW STEERING RACK. *TT CONSUMER HAD IT REPAIR AND IS DRIVABLE.UPDATED 8/16/18*JB
