Consumer Description

NOVEMBER 2017 NEWS REPORTS DESCRIBED A SAFETY RECALL OF CERTAIN MODEL YEARS OF HONDA ODYSSEY VAN SECOND ROW SEATING. THIS WAS DUE TO SEATS NOT BEING SECURE IN SUDDEN STOP OR IMPACT. SINCE THAT TIME, NOW 4 MONTHS, SEVERAL DEALERSHIP CLAIM NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHEN THE RECALL REPAIRS WILL BE HONORED AND REFER CALLERS TO HONDA AMERICA. HONDA AMERICA REFERS ALL CALLS TO DEALERS AND STATES THIS IS "NOT REALLY A SAFETY ISSUE" BUT A MATTER OF OPERATOR ERROR. I WOULD SUBMIT THAT IF THE SEAT LATCH SYSTEM CAN BE INSTALLED/OPERATED IMPROPERLY THEN IT IS IN FACT A SAFETY RELATED DESIGN DEFECT WHICH A CORPORATION THE SIZE OF HONDA COULD HAVE REPAIRED BY NOW, IF THEY WERE NOT DENYING THE PROBLEM! CAN DOT ENFORCE AN EXISTING FEDERAL RECALL?
