Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 CHEVROLET CAPTIVA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SOFT TISSUE BRUISING, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 141,000. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER 6 WEEKS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AND WORSENING PAIN, THE DOCTOR ADVISED SURGERY WAS NECESSARY FOR A NECK INJURY DUE TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. *JS
