Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING AND THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT MISSED THE DEADLINE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE OR PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
