Consumer Description
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BEFORE AND I WOULD TRY TO GET TO A POINT WHERE I COULD PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, RESTART THE CAR AND IT WOULD BE GOOD. THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAVE BEEN ON ROADS IN CURVES MANY TIMES AND IT WOULD GO OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM. I SHUTTLE MY KIDS EVERYDAY AND THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR THEM AND MYSELF. I SEARCH FOR A RECALL A WHILE BACK AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 AND I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO SPEND OUT ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM I'M HAVING WITH A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM IS THE POWER STEERING GEAR AND THE ANGLE POSITION SENSOR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT OTHER 2013 FORD FLEX WERE ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT MINE WAS NOT. I CALLED THE FORD MANUFACTURER AND SPOKE WITH 3 DIFFERENT REPRESENTATIVES (REPS) AND A SUPERVISOR. TWO REPS TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND THE OTHER REP AND SUPERVISOR STATED I WOULD NEED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT A DEALERSHIP AND IT WOULD BE THEIR DISCRETION ON WHETHER THEY WILL FIX IT, DISCOUNT IT OR SOMETHING. I DON'T THINK IT IS THE DEALERSHIP'S RESPONSIBILITY AS THEY DID NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE, THEY ONLY SELL THEM. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER AT LANCE CUNNINGHAM FORD IN KNOXVILLE, TN AND HE AGREED AND STATED HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY THEY WOULD TELL ME THAT. HE WAS ALSO NICE ENOUGH TO SAY THAT HE WOULD HELP ME OUT THE BEST HE COULD BECAUSE HE WANTED TO KEEP ME AS A CUSTOMER. PLEASE HELP ME! I DO NOT THINK IT IS A COINCIDENCE THAT THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE AS IT HAS OTHERS MADE THE SAME TIME AS MINE. I HAVE ALSO READ OTHER COMPLAINTS AFTER RESEARCHING THAT MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS IN FORD VEHICLES (FOCUS, FUSION, ETC.) ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AND THE MAJORITY OF OUR VEHICLES ARE LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD.
