Consumer Description

THE TIMING CHAIN ON OUR EQUINOX BROKE AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE. GM SAYS OUR VIN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE NHTSA REFERENCE #10053269 AND TSB REFERENCE #SB-12313. OUR SHOP SAID THE DAMAGE IS EXACTLY WHAT IS COVERED UNDER THOSE DOCUMENTS, BUT NO PROTECTION DUE TO VIN OUTSIDE OF RANGE. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHOWING PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM ERROR. PARKED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. WHEN TRIED TO START AGAIN, THE VEHICLE DID NOTHING. HAD TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP FOR DAMAGE ASSESSMENT.
