Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER LANE AND CAUGHT FIRE NEAR THE LIFTGATE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE WAS NEVER DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000. UPDATED 07/11/17*LJ *AS
