Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE AVENGER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE DRIVER. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER'S FACE STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD AND FACE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V668000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
