Consumer Description

2014 RAM 1500 PICKUP. HAD STOPPED TO REFUEL MY PICKUP TRUCK. WHEN REFUELING COMPLETED, AND AFTER PUTTING ON MY SEATBELT, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND PLACED THE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. AS I BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD I HAD AN ELECTRONIC CHIME AND NOTICE DISPLAYED ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL: "VEHICLE NOT IN PARK". HAVING ROLLED ONLY 10 FEET, I STOPPED THE TRUCK, PLACED THE CAR INTO PARK, AND WHEN I DID SO THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER GAVE AN INDICATION OF ZERO. I PUT THE GEAR BACK INTO DRIVE AND RECEIVED THE SAME ALERT. MY SPEED WAS NOT MORE THAN 2-3 MPH. I REPEATED THE PROCESS AND WHEN I GOT THE ALERT THE NEXT TIME I DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE, AFTER WHICH THE ALERT DISAPPEARED. PERHAPS JUST A COINCIDENCE, BUT MY DIGITAL SATELLITE RADIO MALFUNCTIONED AND CONTINUED TO DO SO BEFORE SELF-CORRECTING 1.5 MILES LATER. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY OCCURRENCE. I HAVE NOT REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER. I AM ONLY REPORTING IT NOW TO NHTSA BECAUSE OF THE NEWS ARTICLE THAT I JUST READ CITING MY YEAR/MODEL VEHICLE BEING AMONG THOSE THAT HAVE HAD REPORTED ROLL-OFF ISSUES.
