Consumer Description
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE HEADLINER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IN THE SUN VISOR CAUSED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
