Consumer Description

THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE NISSAN RECALL REF. 16V-029 RELATED TO THE HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY. NISSAN SEEMS TO HAVE PUT IN PLACE A REPAIR PROCEDURE THAT IS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IS ADVERTISED IN THE RECALL LETTER. THIS PROCEDURE IS EXCESSIVELY BURDENSOME, REQUIRING THE VEHICLE OWNER TO SCHEDULE A FIRST APPOINTMENT TO INSPECT THE CAR, THEN A SECOND APPOINTMENT TO PERFORM THE ACTUAL REPAIR. THE RECALL LETTER ADVERTISES A SINGLE APPOINTMENT IS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR, SO THIS PROCEDURE RUNS CONTRARY TO THE TEXT OF THE RECALL LETTER. THIS SEEMS TO BE KNOWN TO DEALERS AS: PC426 ALTIMA HOOD LATCH NTB16-011
