Consumer Description

WE PULLED IN TO A GAS STATION AND I REACHED DOWN IN THE DARK TO RELEASE THE FUEL DOOR. MY HUSBAND PUT GAS IN THE CAR AND WE HEADED FOR HOME. SUDDENLY, THE HOOD FLEW UP AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD COMPLETELY BLOCKING MY VIEW AND SCARING THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF US. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING AN ACCIDENT. WHEN WE GOT HOME, UPON INSPECTION, WE FOUND PRETTY EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE HOOD AND SIDE PANELS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO WORKS ON OUR CAR AND WAS GIVEN A VERY PRICEY ESTIMATE. I FEEL THAT THE SAFETY ON THE HOOD LOCK SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS FROM HAPPENING. FORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE ( IT COULD HAPPEN WHEN I HAVE MY BABY GRANDDAUGHTERS IN THE CAR ) AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL. *JS
