Consumer Description
I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL ON THE LEFT TIE ROD END (N62 / NHTSA 13V-528). I SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL DEALER ON 01/13/14 AND WAS PUT ON THE LIST FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT I WAS NUMBER 35 ON THE LIST AND THEY WERE COMPLETING 1 RECALL EVERY 7-8 DAYS DUE TO LACK OF PARTS. NOW I AM TOLD THIS RECALL HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD AND WILL NOT RESUME UNTIL 6/14. THIS DELAY FOR A RECALL IS ALARMING. 'THE LEFT TIE BALL STUD ON YOU TRUCK MAY FRACTURE UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND/OR CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.' THE TIE ROD END ON MY TRUCK HAS FRACTURED ONCE ALL READY LESS THAN 1 YEAR AGO. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOT A WRECK OR INJURY DUE TO THE LOSS OF THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. I AM NOW HAVING TO REPLACE ANOTHER STEERING COMPONENT LINKAGE ON THE SAME TRUCK THAT IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL AND THE MECHANIC IS HAVING PROBLEMS LOCATING PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. AGAIN IF THIS TIE BALL STUD WOULD FRACTURE IT WOULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. *TR
