Consumer Description

2011 JAYCO MELBOURNE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIPPED WHEN THE CAMPER WAS CONNECTED A POWER SOURCE. THE OUTLET AT THE PARK WAS CHECKED AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE CONSUMER USED HIS GENERATOR, AND WAS ABLE TO SWITCH THE 30 AMP TO ON THE NEXT DAY. A MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMER STOPPED TO AN RV PARK, AND WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE 30 AMP ELECTRICITY. THE PARK MANAGER CHECKED THE POWER SOURCE AND FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH THE OUTLET. WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT HIS SON'S HOUSE, HE CONNECTED THE CAMPER TO THE 30 AMP OUTLET NEWLY INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN, WHEN SUDDENLY HE SMELLED SMOKE INSIDE THE CAMPER. THE ELECTRICIAN PULLED THE PANEL LOCATED UNDER THE BED AND FOUND THE ELECTRICAL BOX HOUSING THE TRANSFER SWITCH AND THE CONNECTION BAR MELTED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY REPEATEDLY FAILED TO RETURN HIS CALLS. THE CONSUMER PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT TRANSFER SWITCH, AND TOOK THE RV TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER PAID FOR THE LABOR ONLY. JAYCO INFORMED THE CONSUMER HIS RV WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, AND HE WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE PART, AND THEY PAID FOR THE LABOR AS A GOOD WILL GESTURE.
