Consumer Description
HELLO, I HAVE A 2005 HOLIDAY RAMBLER NEPTUNE MOTORHOME. IT WAS ORIGINALLY RECALLED FOR A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE TRAILING ARMS. MONACO PUT ON NEW TRAILING ARMS IN JULY 2005. SINCE THEN THE UNDER ENGINEERED TRAILING ARMS HAVE BEEN CRACKING AND CAUSING SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. MONACO WAS BOUGHT AT AUCTION AND IS NO LONGER LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS (WHICH SEEMS CRIMINAL). THERE ARE SOME 9,000 UNITS WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE ON THE AMERICAN HIGHWAYS. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT PRESSURE BE PUT TO THE NEW OWNERS OF MONACO. NAVISTAR, TO ADDRESS THIS SAFETY CONCERN. OWNERS WITH THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM ARE FACED WITH THE BURDEN OF MAKING THIS REPAIR THEMSELVES TO THE TUNE OF AROUND $3200. I AM GETTING MINE REPLACED BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT IS THE ETHICAL THING TO DO. IN MY OPINION, THERE IS AN ETHICAL AND MORAL OBLIGATION ON THE PART OF NAVISTAR, THE NEW OWNERS OF MONACO, TO MAKE A SERIOUS EFFORT TO CONTACT ALL THE OWNERS OF THESE MOTORHOMES AND ALERT THEM TO THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT THE NHTSA CAN DO? *TR
