Consumer Description

THE REAR TAILGATE/HATCH HAS FAILED AND CLOSES ON THE PERSON UNDERNEATH. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA BECAUSE I HAD HEARD OF A RECALL, BUT THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL ONLY INVOLVED STRUTS/PISTONS ON THE AUTOMATIC DOORS - WHAT ABOUT THE MANUALLY OPERATED TAILGATE/HATCH ON THESE VEHICLES? LUCKILY THE PERSON THAT GOT HIT BY THE HATCH WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. BOTH STRUTS/PISTONS HAVE FAILED AND TOYOTA WANTS $360.00 TO REPAIR IT. CAN YOU ADVISE OF ANY OTHER REPORTS HAVE BEEN FILED? *TR
